Looking for variables names that can be read via osmo-msc CONTROL interface

Dear osmocom-cni contributors, I would like to retrieve (i.e. read or get) some data from a running osmo-msc from the CONTROL interface... but sorry, currently I cannot find either from the manuals or the source code the name of variables I can query. Is there a mean to list all the variables that can be “GET” from the osmo-msc CONTROL interface? And… the list that can be “SET” through the osmo-msc CONTROL interface? I am also interested in other osmo-cni nodes. Thanks a lot in advance. BR, Igor.

2019-09-10: Talk about commercial cellular base station technology

Dear Osmocom community and friends, Next week on September 10, I will be presenting a talk about cellular base station technology as part of the "Datengarten" series of talks at Chaos Computer Club Berlin (CCCB). The talk will focus on actual base station hardware as it evolved during the last 20 years or so. It will not assume much in terms of protocol stacks or cellular architecture, but more focus on the hardware building blocks. Regards, Harald --- Abstract In today’s hyper-connected society, everyone constantly uses their smartphone, which in turn uses the commercial cellular networks (from 2G/GSM to 4G/LTE) in order to achieve connectivity. However, contrary to WiFi technology, even most technology-minded people don’t have much of an idea how the infrastructure behind those cellular networks looks like. This talk does not cover the architecture and protocols of underlying cellular systems, but focuses on the physical side of things: * what are the typical components of cellular base stations? * what are their key functionalities? * how did cellular base station technology evolve during the past 20 years? * how do we expect cellular base stations to change in the [near] future? ABIS Over SCTP Port 14597

Hi everyone! I have a BTS that is trying to connect to openbsc via SCTP, but as i see it is not supported. I have attached a capture file between the core network equipment and BTS 10.0.0.7 is the IP Address of the ABIS link and port is 14597 the rest is for UMTS and LTE so please ignore it. I would be really gratefull if someone could look into this Kind thanks to everyone!

Hi, i've pushed all modificatons from the chaos communication camp 2019 to the osmocom repositories as cccamp2019. Except for libosmo-abis which I directly pushed to gerrit. Sample configs for reproducing osmo-nitb behaviour with the split stack

Hi all, Today I'm working on updating my NuRAN unit with the new osmo stack in order to try to reproduce the same behavior of old osmo-nitb we use in production in Rhizomatica (with subscriber_create_on_demand feature on). I'm writing just in case someone already put online a set of config files with the parameters needed by such behavior set? ; ) ps: I have the new splip stack working fine here, I just need to modify my setup with new features to support subscriber_create_on_demand. Diameter to GSUP translator

Hi all, as some of you know, I've been working on a small diameteer to GSUP translator, which allows us to connect a MME like nextepc-mme against osmo-hlr. The code is still a big ugly hack and needs cleanup, but today I finally got it to work for authentication and location update. In case anyone is curious how this looks like, I've attached a pcap file that includes the S1AP, DIAMETER, GSUP and GTPv2C traffic of an initial LTE registration happening on a setup running the following programs: * nextepc MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF * osmo_diameter2gsup * osmo-hlr The point of this is to enable networks to run a shared subscriber database for 2G, 3G and 4G, which is a very typical use case if you have existing Osmocom based network and want to extend it with LTE. We will test this translator extensively at the upcoming CCC Camp, where all three (2G, 3G and 4G) networks will be running. The sad part is that we don't yet have a common GGSN and P-GW, which means that the PDP/PDN context including the IP address will not persist when moving between 2G+3G on the one hand side and 4G on the other hand side. I expect to get the commit history cleaned up and plan to push the [Erlang] code to git.osmocom.org tomorrow. 3G handover (+ 35C3 experience)

Hello, dear Community, Has anybody tested how cell handover works in 3G with Osmocom software? 3G network was set up for 35C3: I would like to ask whether anybody noticed if a cell was reselected "smoothly" by the phone when the user was moving or it was like a drop of a connection and reconnection to a different cell afterwards? So, basically, the question is: Does the handover work in 3G Osmocom? (single HNBGW and MSC/SGSN) Thanks. Kind regards, Mykola
