Hello,
I'm new around here and started from scratch with a new Ubuntu server. I followed the openBSC build guide on the WIKI page http://openbsc.osmocom.org/trac/wiki/Building_OpenBSC. Building libosmocore went smoothly Building libosmo-abis ended in an error:
===== checking for ORTP... no configure: error: Package requirements (ortp >= 0.13.1) were not met:
No package 'ortp' found =====
Where can I find the ortp package? And secondly, is this the right version? I saw version 0.15.0 mentioned in the mail archives aready.
Thanks in advance, Peter.

Google search for "ortp" shows this at the first place: http://www.linphone.org/eng/documentation/dev/ortp.html
If you scroll down, you can see that you have two options - download one of the releases, or access a git repository. Releases should be more stable so one of those is probably a better choice. The last release is 0.18.0 (dated 2011-12-26), here is the download link: http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/linphone/ortp/sources/ortp-0.18.0. tar.gz
Thanks in advance, Peter.

There is actually libortp-dev mentioned in the OpenBSC build guide. Maybe Ubuntu has only versioned packages. Try the following: $ aptitude search libortp this should show libortp7-dev or libortp8-dev. I am quite sure both versions work.
Kind regards, -Alexander Huemer

I searched for the text on that page and it is there indeed. Just below it is an example of how to install it on Debian. I used this line to setup my system.
apt-get install libdbi0-dev libdbd-sqlite3 build-essential libtool
autoconf automake git-core pkg-config
In this line the package "libortp-dev" is missing, causing the failure later on.
Thanks for clarifying to me. Best regards, Peter.
I am using Debian and I could use the libortp8 package from the default repository. Doesn't the same package exist for ubuntu?

I tried in on a ubuntu workstation:
rogier@Draver:~$ apt-cache search ortp apt-utils - APT utility programs libortp-dev - Real-time Transport Protocol stack libortp8 - Real-time Transport Protocol stack
I'd try libortp-dev :)
