Maybe it is related to mISDN, I think there is also a special
tunnel for capturing the traces in Wireshark. The rest (Telnet
interface) should be standard socket operations.
Well, it seems from the error message like the mISDN kernel modules are not
present.
Also, you indicate a fresh lenny install. Did you build your own kernel
using the patch from OpenBSC svn for SAPI handling (or alternatively build
mISDN from their git tree)? We cannot use mainline linux yet, as
those changes have not been merged yet (but are on their way, thanks
to Andreas Eversberg, AFAIK)
