Hi all, Just received my C123 (from http://shop.sysmocom.de/) with filter rework and it works great.
I have one problem with the "burst*.dat" files when i do uplink sniffing, basically there are no files produced and when they are produced most of the time they are empty? This doesn't happen when i do downlink sniffing. Is this a stupid question or am I missing something...
cheers, L.

Hi,
I assume this is with the GPRS code? I had hoped someone who has actually done this would respond (I never tried the GPRS sniffing code).
I can only offer generic debugging advice (that you might have already considered):
- I assume you followed the advice to go from #if 1 to #if 0?
- Check if the uplink sniffing cmd set is scheduled. The cmd_set for sniffing (sniff_tch_sched_set) is used in the layer1/mframe_sched.c and the TCH_F_EVEN/ODD task is triggered by l23_api.c:l1ctl_rx_dm_est_req (from what I see right now).
- Is l1s_sniff_resp called? The wiki mentions red burst ind messages popping up somewhere.

Ah yes, I forgot about this ...
I don't know what you run, but it's also completely possible that you just don't see uplinks ... just because the filters are removed doesn't mean you'll see as much UL traffic than DL traffic, the range is still much more limited.
Cheers,
Sylvain
Thanks. Yes I thought about the UL range at first and I think your reply pretty much affirms my conclusion too. I'm using the GPRS code (from #if 1 to #if 0) I will check the debugging advice from Holger.

Hello List,
I I'm keen to know if TCH sniff features were added to OsmocomBB( as Sylvain demonstrated during C27 chao conference)? does it capable to do the voice channel sniffing as well? whether real time or in recorded.
Kind regards, On Thu, Nov 24, 2011 at 11:03 AM, Sylvain Munaut 246tnt@gmail.com wrote:

Hi,
can you just let it go? Sylvain has clearly stated that the code he wrote to make sniffing + decoding trivial will not be published. Why do you come back with that? It is getting a bit freaky.
His dsp patch to get raw burst data has been always public[1]...
