plabs project seems to be removed from sf.net, did somebody mirror it or something?

Yes. I asked sf.net and all they indicated: "It was removed because of a violation". No indication what was violated (Trademark, Patents, Copyright) nor who actually requested its removal.
Quite surprising, considering the project was up for more than 5 years :(
