i noticed the GSM modem issued a couple SELECT (a4) commands that i cannot find the documentation for
would any one be able to help identify these ???

Hi,
looking at a sysmoUSIM file system (see http://michau.benoit.free.fr/codes/smartcard/sysmoUSIM/index.htm), it looks like addresses 7F FF and 7F F0 are aliases (or symlink ?) for the USIM AID. No idea for the 7F 66 address.
