I have a fresh ubuntu 11.10 installation and cannot get the simtrace package to install.
this command works and I get the expected results: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:holger+lp/osmocom
this works too: sudo apt-get update
as well as this: sudo apt-get install wireshark
but when I do simtrace on the install line by itself or with wireshark, I get: E: Unable to locate package simtrace
I see the ppa on launchpad.net has an entry for simtrace under oneiric (ubuntu 11.10), but it isn't finding it.

there is no simtrace package for Oneiric. You can try the 11.04 release (including the downgrade of wireshark) or wait until I built a new package (probably tonight).

Okay, I updated Wireshark on OBS (RPM based, added Fedora 16, Mandriva 2011), for Oneiric I used the new wireshark and added the SIMtrace patch, I built the old libosmocore and a build-fixed simtrace is in the build queue[1].

very nice, I have simtrace up and running on 11.10 and capturing data.
I will look at wireshark tomorrow.
