4c7184c (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Fixed bug with loss of tgid_map during hunting/tsys_reset
This one works fine for rx.py before multirx.py came along:
git show --oneline -s 7192172 (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Formatting changes for consistency
Any ideas to fix this? TIA, Mike

I was seeing this sort of error last summer and I am almost certain it was related to a bug/incompatibility in the rtl-sdr/gr-osmosdr/gnuradio stack. I had to go back to an earlier version to get a working system.
A month or so ago I went back to building from the latests stable gnuradio using the "build-gnuradio" script and everything now seems to work OK, so whatever was going on apparently was fixed.
So, you might want to try either upgrading or downgrading your system to see if that solves it for you.

Any ideas to fix this?

Thanks, John, you got me thinking... op25 installs its libs in /usr/local/lib even on my 64-bit system. I had moved them to /usr/local/lib64 and ldconfig'ed so when I uninstalled the old system the old libs were still there. rx.py works fine again. No joy with multirx.py on DMR yet. Thanks for jumpstarting my brain. If no luck with multirx.py I'll start a new thread with the new particulars.

Can you install both versions of op25, ie. max branch and osmocom op25 version on the same installationof ubuntu and it work?

            Dick,
I have op25 running on two separate Ubuntu 16.04 Virtual Machines in Oracle VirtualBox. One of the VM’s has the MAX branch while the other has Graham’s [Boadbod] version. I believe you are using virtualization and can accomplish this much easier than trying to install both on the same machine and having to keep the two versions from conflicting with each other. I’ve not installed the Osmocom version in a long time because of the numerous code and feature improvements by Max, Graham, and a few other contributors.

You can have both versions reside on the same machine (virtual or real) but only one can be "installed" in /usr/local at a time. I accomplish this by cloning the various repos into separate directories then sym-linking the one I want to use to "~/op25" prior to running a 'make install'.
e.g. git clone https://git.osmocom.org/op25 https://git.osmocom.org/op25 op25.max git clone https://github.com/boatbod/op25 https://github.com/boatbod/op25 op25.boat ln -s ~/op25.max ~/op25 cd ~/op25/build cmake ../ make sudo make install
cd ~ rm op25 ln -s op25.boat op25 cd ~/op25/build cmake ../ make sudo make install
As an aside, it's very easy to run multiple instances of the same version on the same machine by using different startup scripts and config files. I do this for my broadcastify streams with very good success.
Graham

Thank you too Graham....Once I get it working again will try them in this manner....

            Dick,
There should be no issues moving to Ubuntu 16.04 unless you don’t you’re missing an rx.py command line option or have an incorrect virtual machine audio setting. Have you tired running speaker-test (speaker-test -t sine -f 400 -c 2) from the terminal? Alternatively you can click into the system settings on the desktop then select sound where you can use the GUI tool to configure and test your speakers.
It that checks out, then please post your rx.py command line and trunk.tsv files.

Bill Well, I installed Ubuntu 14.04, updated it, then used the boatbod version of op25. I compiled it as my userid and as root. they wouldn't start due to a divide by zero exception which I never had using Ubuntu 16.04. So, will re-install 16 and do the same thing. Once back to at least running I'll perform your sound test and go from there. BTW....is there a valid installation for wireshark as well? Thanks yet again for your help and time on this.....will let you know what happens....

Can you install both versions of op25, ie.. max branch and osmocom op25 version on the same installation
of ubuntu and it work?

Seems like you might have some of the old version libraries still installed in /usr/local? Hard to say, but usually the install.sh script found in the root of op25 takes care of all that needs to be done.
If you get op25 running and still have no audio, post the beginning of the log file (stderr.2) so we can see if there are any clues why it's silent.

            Dick,
The source code for the Wireshark p25 dissector has disappeared from the osmocom.org website and seems to be a dead issue these days. It really serves no useful role in monitoring p25 trunked systems unless you specifically have a need for in-depth analysis. There is excellent debugging options available with the proper level of verbose enabled on the rx.py command line that dumps a host of information to the stderr log file.
The error message you’re seeing in 14.04 is probably due to the need to create /etc/modprobe.d/dvb-blacklist.conf in support of the RTL-SDR dongle. When running 16.04 this is an not an issue and is an unnecessary step in your configuration tasks. Feel free to PM offline and I will be glad to help you get 16.04 + op25 up and running on VirtualBox.

Well, I installed Ubuntu 14.04, updated it, then used the boatbod version of op25. I compiled it as my userid and as root. they wouldn't start due to a divide by zero exception which I never had using
Ubuntu 16.04. So, will re-install 16 and do the same thing. Once back to at least running I'll perform your sound test and go from there. BTW....is there a valid installation for wireshark as well? Thanks yet again for your help and time on this.....will let you know what happens....

There should be no issues moving to Ubuntu 16.04 unless you don’t you’re missing an rx.py command line option or have an incorrect virtual machine audio setting. Have you tired running speaker-test (speaker-test -t sine -f 400 -c 2) from the terminal? Alternatively you can click into the system settings on the desktop then select sound where you can use the GUI tool to configure and test your speakers..
It that checks out, then please post your rx.py command line and trunk.tsv files.

A good basic audio test is:
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
It may be that you have multiple audio devices (e.g. an HDMI monitor) and the wrong one is being used by default.

Bill....below is the stderr.2 file that executes....i did perform the audio tests and they all work....just no audio....I have a scanner going on the same frequency that i've got this monintorng and I do see the listing of communications, just no audio....I think I mentioned that I'm using the boatbod op25, and when I input a different frequency I thought the displayed frequency would change but it doesn't. It also seems the SDR isn't changed either....but for now just working on getting audio.....thanks again for your efforts...
