I'm ubuntu-challenged...can you help me with how to go to a "max" branch, or any branch that would get me everything? I've also been using the only instructions I've found and they are listed below and was published back in June of 2017. Thanks in advance too!

It's a git thing, not Ubuntu, and is easily found by an internet search in less time than it took me to write this reply.
To switch between branches of a project in git use "git checkout <branch>".
As Graham mentioned, if you are using the boatbod version it should already be up to date with the max branch of the base OP25 project.

Two ways to accomplish what you ask, depending what you want to get at:
git clone -b max https://git.osmocom.org/op25 https://git.osmocom.org/op25
------- or -------
git clone https://github.com/boatbod/op25 https://github.com/boatbod/op25
The first command gets you to the max branch of the official osmocom repo. The second gets you to my fork of the osmocom repo. In general my fork contains all of the max branch features (there may be a small lag of a few days to a couple weeks) plus a bunch of my own additions. Pick the repo that best suits your purpose.
