Hi group,
I want to build a new OP25/GnuRadio system. For those of you that may have a done a recent build, are there recommended versions of Linux and Gnuradio etc.. to use?
My past experience was that different versions can cause major install headaches due to incompatibilities. I found it easier to try to get things working in a VM first so I could restore a snapshot after things got screwed up and would really like to minimize time spent to get a fresh build working correctly.
Thanks for an tips!
I'm just going to reply to myself that I found an excellent thread on the radioreference forums that looks to have all the information that I need.

There is a lot of good information in that thread. There appear to be a lot of people using Linux Mint as the distribution of choice. However, being based off Ubuntu it also includes the bloat that has crept into Ubuntu recently.
Personally I prefer to use Debian which is the parent of Ubuntu. It is more simplistic in my view and doesn't have the fluff of Ubuntu using extra system resources.
I did have an issue recently where I could not fully compile OP25 on Debian 7 because wxpython 2.8 would break when installing via pybombs. Simply installing it manually via apt-get allowed gnuradio and OP25 to build without issue.
