I didn't even think of the use of an alias. I think it's an interesting hack, and we can live with it. Remember, it is only temporary anyway. After some months of keeping both we will stop working with public OBS at all.. So at that point the alias could be removed again and we can update the .oscrc to always use the obs.osmocom.org?
