PS2: the other alternative would be to remove all of the ":dt1:" from the counter names, and have some backwards compat layer keeping the old names with ":dt1:" redirecting to the new ones without ":dt1:" ... seems like a lot of effort.

so far this patch goes the half baked middle way of keeping the ":dt1:" even though it's not entirely accurate
