management, we use the custom GSUP, and do not support DIAMETER.
For media, you do not need / should not support the custom MNCC format, but
osmo-sip-connector translates that to plain SIP for you. Using osmo-msc and
osmo-sip-connector, you can trivially interop with stock SIP agents, as long as
the codecs match the SIP peer's capabilities. (I recently explained how/why we
are still not as good as we should be with codec negotiation.)
Just to make it clear, DIAMETER / HLR is not related to media or SIP interop in
