You can try just setup LCR / OpenBSC combo locally. and If you can
talk to LCR via SIP, the E1 POC uplink should just work.

SMS is more used, especially since some people do scripts to send
hundreds of them :p

The POC IIRC has some voice services like alarm / next talk announce /
live audio from the various rooms.
