Dear Osmocom community,
during recent weeks, several of you have requested that OsmoDevCon 2020 be postponed to a later point in the year. Some, like Vadim and Rafael, have already cancelled their physical attendance meanwhile.
I still have hope that the travel restrictions might be lifted again until OsmoDevCon happens in more than a month of time now, but that's of course a gamble and I realize people need to have some kind of reliable planning for travel, rather than waiting until the last day and then see if they can make it or not.
With some reluctance, I therefore announce that we will postpone the event to a yet-to-be-determined later point in the year. We could try to fix a date now, but I think that doesn't make all that much sense until the situation has cleared up to some extent.
I personally would suggest / prefer to move it to early October. Rationale; This is clearly after the usual holiday period (no idea if people will go on holidays in European summer 2020, but just in case).
Please let me know what you think. Also, if you think we should converge tentative October dates already now, fine with me.
It's really sad to not have our usual meeting. We won't have a chance to celebrate the 10th birthday of OsmocomBB.
Meanwhile, all the best to all of you. Stay safe and sane, and by all means do continue to contribute to Osmocom - we're luckily working in a field where working/contributing remotely is the norm, and not the exception.
Regards, Harald
