This is probably completely off-topic, but can thoses nano-bts also be
used for data, instead of voice?
I don't mean sms, but access to email and so-on.
It is not about performance, but being able to test gsm-dongles for
wireless internet. (not wifi)

data as in GPRS or CSD? The GPRS/EDGE support is working in the lab
environment, you will find information in the wiki and searching the
mailing-list archives.
