BTW: if I am not mistaken, in commercial networks this parameter is stored in the HLR, for each subscriber individually. Subscribers can manage Call Waiting using special SS (Supplementary Services) commands:

  *#43# - check the service activation status,
  *43#  - activate Call Waiting,
  #43#  - deactivate.

I am fine with having this parameter here, but some day we would need to have a proper SS support ;)
