As to the most recent change where I added code to extract the previous value of the PC register before entering the interrupt routines, it was because the System would sometimes appear to be frozen, where the heartbeat output no longer occurs, and it no longer accepts serial input (commands etc). After purchasing a buspirate, I isolated and confirmed that the processor is always running an instruction at the beginning of the default spurious interrupt handler. After replacing the interrupt handler, the system appears to recover, although it still encounters uart overrun and occasionally a parity error. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy SIII, simtrace v1.2p, with current firmware. The SIM card works when plugged in the phone directly, and SIMtrace with this phone work with other SIM cards. This SIM cards allows high transfer rates, and the phone tries to do the PPS exchange, but somehow fails and the tells no SIM card is detected.
