[RFC] Coding Style: Longer Line Lengths?

This is merely a historical archive of years 2008-2021, before the migration to mailman3.

That would only be true if all the code would have complied with the 
current policy of 80 chars. In reality it's not the case - in almost any 
given file you can find exceptions hanging beyond 80 limit. So the code 
is already mess in this regard.
