ah, yes, thanks for the reminder.  After quickly reading through it,
ther is _some_ overlap, though really only some.

I've meanwhile wasted some time I don't have with prototyping some of
the data structures and concepts in good old C.   It's far from being
complete, but I've attached it for your reference.
