    We need to build it in either case, because virtphy is not part of the osmocom-bb debian packages. As of writing only layer23 is in the debian package (https://gitea.osmocom.org/phone-side/osmocom-bb/src/branch/master/debian/rules).

    So the difference becomes:

    • without --binary-repo: use osmo-dev for building both the libosmocore dependency and virtphy
    • with --binary-repo: install the libosmocore dependency via apt, build virtphy from source
