    It seems that the discussion is a bit stuck here. I suggest the following compromise:

    We keep the backward compatibility in this patch and we will also bump the version number. OsmoBTS will keep working as well as the TTCN3 tests (we will of course give this a final check before merging this.) This will allow us to merge the ericsson support much quicker and we will have enough time to migrate OsmoBTS and the related TTCN3 tests. When everything is migrated we will bump the version number once more and drop all the old clutter.
