    I think the various cosmetic / style fixes (such as whitespace at end of line, FSF address, ...) should all be adressed in a follow-up commit. This is importing code from a specific git commit of another repository, and there is a lot of benefit of having that 1:1 before doign any cleanup or other modification on top of it.
