<div>Hi, I am aware of Commotion-OpenBTS and I even gave it a try, however for some reason it does not detect my usrp1.</div>

<div>Are there more detailed instructions on how to use it?</div>

<div>I simply put it on a USB stick with unetbootin, no persistance (adding persistance would be nice). When booted it does the configuration succesfully, but what to do after that ?</div>

<div>Commotion-OpenBTS is a great idea, if I could only get it to work.</div>

<div>Alexander, Will GnuRadio 3.6 work with usrp1 and osmoBTS or openBTS?</div>

<div>I am also intalling osmobts on another computer, but that is causing me a lot of problems. ortp and srtp seem to be conflicting with libosip2-dev and libortp-dev from ubuntu and when I install</div>

<div>I get problems compiling OpenBTS and some other software.</div>

<div>So it looks like OpenBTS and OsmoBTS cannot coexist on one computer. At least not on my.</div>

<div>Too many versions keep confusing me. i.e. openbts-P2.8.0Opelousas.tar.gz from <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/openbts/files/2.8.0/" target="_blank">http://sourceforge.net/projects/openbts/files/2.8.0/</a></div>

<div>for some reason doesn't understand</div>

<div>"--with-usrp1 --with-singledb" switches but openbts 2.8 downloaded from other sources has no problems with that.</div>

<div>Robert,<br>
<br>
<br>
 </div>
This is a easy solution here:<br>

<pre> </pre>

<div>Commotion-OpenBTS</div>

<div> </div>

<div>==Introduction==</div>

<div> </div>

<div>Commotion-OpenBTS is packaged as a customized x86 Ubuntu Linux distribution.</div>

<div>It comes as a live image that can be booted from a USB drive or CD. This</div>

<div>repository contains resources used to create the Commotion-OpenBTS image.</div>

<div> </div>

<div>The purpose of this software is to allow voice calls over a Commotion</div>

<div>wireless mesh network. Phone calls can be made between GSM unlocked phones,</div>

<div>or between GSM unlocked phones and phones meshing over WiFi with the Serval</div>

<div>"Batphone" software.</div>

<div> </div>

<div>In order to use Commotion-OpenBTS, you need a compatible GSM hardware</div>

<div>transceiver. Currently, compatible hardware includes the Range RAD1;</div>

<div>the Ettus USRP1, USRP2, N200 series, B100 series, and E100 series; and</div>

<div>the Fairwaves UmTRX.</div>

<div> </div>

<pre> </pre>

<div>==How to Run It==</div>

<div> </div>

<div>To run Commotion-OpenBTS, download the ISO file at</div>

<div><a href="https://commotionwireless.net/download" target="_blank">https://commotionwireless.net/download</a>, and load it onto a USB drive using</div>

<div>unetbootin, or your tool of choice. You can then boot from the USB drive</div>

<div>with your laptop or desktop computer, with your GSM radio attached. Once</div>

<div>the OS is loaded, a configuration wizard asks you what type of GSM hardware</div>

<div>you have, and configures the proper driver. After that, everything should be</div>

<div>running, and you can start making calls!</div>

<div> </div>

<div>==Components==</div>

<div> </div>

<div>Commotion-OpenBTS includes the following open source software components:</div>

<div>* OpenBTS (<a href="http://wush.net/trac/rangepublic/browser" target="_blank">http://wush.net/trac/rangepublic/browser</a>)</div>

<div>* OLSRd (<a href="http://olsr.org/git/?p=olsrd.git;a=summary" target="_blank">http://olsr.org/git/?p=olsrd.git;a=summary</a>)</div>

<div>* Serval (<a href="https://github.com/servalproject/serval-dna" target="_blank">https://github.com/servalproject/serval-dna</a>)</div>

<div>* Asterisk (<a href="http://www.asterisk.org/downloads/source-code" target="_blank">http://www.asterisk.org/downloads/source-code</a>)</div>

<div> </div>
<a href="http://files.opentechinstitute.org/~critzo/commotion/Commotion-OpenBTS-x86.iso" target="_blank">http://files.opentechinstitute.org/~critzo/commotion/Commotion-OpenBTS-x86.iso</a><br>
 </div>
Just utilize the Commotion-OpenBTS-x86.iso and it *should* work for both the USRP1 and the UmTRX.<br>
<br>
Only one application can access the SDR device of your choice at a time.<br>
<br>
That's the nature of OpenBTS.<br>
 </div>
Sincerely,<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Martin<br>
