There is no response to any AT commands on either the Modem or the Aux port. After about 30 to 40 secs AT commands start working again and I can enable the modem. It seems that switching from physical SIM to remote SIM causes the modem to lock-up for a while. Anyone else seeing a similar issue? I've upgraded the firmware to the latest (0.5.1.24-bb9b0) but it make no difference. Looking through the firmware source code. There is a debug function board_exec_dbg_cmd() But I can't seem to access it via the debug port? I think typing '?' should display a debug menu but I get nothing. Is there anything I need to know about how to enable it so I can just switch between remote and local? Also do you have any recommendation on preferred modems? I'm only using a Telit because that's what I have. Neither I nor sysmocom has any experience specifically with Telit modems. I suggest to reduce the problem domain: * does the modem exhibit that "window" even if used with a physical simcard in QMOD? * does the modem exhibit that "window" even if used with a physical simcard in some other boards (e.g. the OSmocom mpcie-breakout)? * what kind of USB bus activity (e.g. re-enumeration) do you see? > It seems that switching from physical SIM to remote SIM causes the modem to > lock-up for a while. It is not possible to switch from remote to local or vice-versa without having the modem powered off, or without having the modem in reset during that time, or at least issuing a reset after you have switched. In theory the 3GPP specifications allow for a SIM card to be changed while the UE is running. However,in practise all implementations I've seen in the past 10+ years are lazy and even those modems that actually detect this event properly will simply respond to a reset of (at least) the baseband processor. So maybe what you're observing is simply the modem rebooting at that point? [1] Just with this one change I see the same problem. The modem is unresponsive to AT commands for a period time after boot up. And just to confirm when it's using physical SIM there is no SIM present in the slot should I would expect to see the same behaviour regardless of local or remote. Any thoughts you can share?
