Patch Set 2:

I think as of now the behavior stays mostly the same, since the pollController->expireTimedout() is still being used to trigger time outs, and in real world at most there will be extra delays to trigger the timeout due to some packets not arriving correctly due to bad signal. So nothing really critical imho.
I would like to avoid increasing and hence mantaing different PCUIF versions if not really needed due to ABI incompatibility.
