Actually, I consider it a feature that you can have timeslots open both for the channelized and the superchannel mode.  This way you can switch 'seamless' between both modes.  (I was thinking of Ericsson Packet Abis over E1 support, where one may try to switch to superchannel, and if that fails, go back to channelized).
