Just saying. > CAN has a maximum theoretical data-rate of 1MBit/s. For the calypso cpu we need a external CAN interface and the CAN transceiver. If we really want to use CAN for backplane communication i would use, as example, a LPC11C24FBD48 with a integrated CAN transceiver as "backplane" co-processor.
